thinkingplace are delighted to be playing our part in two sessions at City Nation Place UK’s annual event for those looking to do things differently in their place through innovative place branding and place marketing.
In the morning I’m looking forward to being joined in discussion by Claire Hamilton, CEO of Dacorum Borough Council and Jackie Rigby, Head of Affordable Housing Strategy for Homes England considering why your place needs a strong story to be successful.
Every place is special with its own particular set of assets and opportunities but do your own stakeholders even know what these are, let alone the outside world?
If you’re going to attract private sector investment or Government funding you need a coherent, forward looking view of what you want your place to become, what its priorities are, where are development opportunities and why you are special. This has to be created through the eyes of your stakeholders and is the start of being ‘place led’ in everything you do. Claire will highlight the exciting place based journey Hemel Hempstead is on and Jackie will reflect on why the new Homes England strategy puts so much emphasis on the necessity of a shared visionary narrative if they’re going to invest in your place.
In the afternoon I’ll be hosting a roundtable learning discussion on how to achieve your locations economic potential by a place led approach. As a group we’ll explore why promoting and developing your place has to involve more than the Council; how to sustain a place led approach by constant engagement of stakeholders; focussing on what you have got rather than what you’d haven’t; presenting a unified view of your place’s potential involving the public, private and third sector and how other places have benefitted by doing things different.
There is still time to reserve a place at the conference and as event partner, we’re able to offer you a 20% discounted delegate rate that you can share with your network. Simply visit www.citynationplace.com and use code TPlace20 when booking.
And if you’d like to arrange a no obligation discussion about how this approach can help your place, please do get in touch: john.till@thinkingplace.co.uk
