We are absolutely delighted that Paul Williams, renowned cultural and tourism consultant, is able to contribute to our forthcoming FREE learning event ‘Putting the pizzazz in your place’ on Tuesday 13th September 2022 from 10am at Friargate, Coventry, which is for anyone involved in promoting and shaping their place.
With an academic leadership career spanning 30 years, Paul has been primarily engaged in promoting academic quality and an enhanced student experience, portfolio development, civic engagement, income generation and the establishment of UK and international education partnerships. He has taught, researched and engaged in consultancy work on tourism marketing, destination management, ceramics and special interest tourism, place-making, and culture-led regeneration.
In 2016, Paul was seconded to Stoke-on-Trent City Council to work on its UK City of Culture bid. He was subsequently appointed to chair the Arts Council-funded Cultural Destinations project which brought public and private sector partners together to raise the city’s profile and attractiveness as a cultural tourism destination delivering significant economic impact to the local area.
Paul is Stoke-on-Trent BID’s lead director for place marketing, and is actively engaged with Staffordshire’s Place Board, We Are Staffordshire, bringing the Staffordshire Story to life, as well as a long-standing member of the Destination Management Partnership, Enjoy Staffordshire.
As culture has seen a huge rise in prominence in recent years, we are delighted that Paul can join us and consider why that is and what does it bring to a place.
