Looking forward to UKREiiF

At thinkingplace, we’re getting ready for UKREiiF from the 17th to the 19th May and alongside the busy conference agenda, we are looking forward to meeting up with people also visiting the Leeds event. Myself and fellow Director Sarah Perry would love the opportunity to introduce ourselves and our work to you whilst there.

We are the leading ‘place specialist’ in the UK and use our experience, skills and insight having worked with over 70 places to:

  • bring businesses, HE/FE, community and public sector together to create and implement a shared ‘narrative’ that differentiates their place to help it compete and grow and develop its economy.
  • create a new model of place leadership (at a time of austerity) where the private sector and anchor institutions have a prominent role in place marketing and becoming place ambassadors.
  • help towns and cities respond to the ‘Levelling Up’ and devolution agendas in a positive and place-led way.
  • maximise on Government schemes to regenerate town centres, such as the FHSF and Towns Fund.
  • unlock the economic potential of a place by highlighting and focussing on its assets, economic geography and wider spatial relationships.
  • reset their place post-Covid following the best practise of a shared, forward-looking place story, widened place leadership and active collaborations.

We have successfully implemented this different way of working with counties such as Staffordshire, Surrey and Hampshire, cities such as Coventry, Nottingham and Perth, towns such as Harrogate, Harlow, Lowestoft and St Helens, and multi-place economic areas such as Torbay, Medway and Wychavon, as well as all three UK Cities of Culture, an approach that was the bedrock for their success.

I am a mentor for the High Street Task Force programme, and thinkingplace are a partner with The Institute of Place Management at Manchester Metropolitan University, based on our best practice and experience in developing stories and collaborations for places.

If you’d like to learn more about our approach, or the places we’ve worked with in the last 16 years, and how we might be able to help you promote and develop your place then we’d be delighted to meet up at UKREiiF.

Either drop us an email at hello@thinkingplace.co.uk or you can ring the office on 01254 779149.

Wishing you a successful UKREiiF and look forward to seeing you there!
