Solace – Regional workshop North East – 24th July

After the successful workshops already held in the South East and Yorkshire/Humber region, we are delighted to be bringing our ‘Creating Purposeful Places’ workshop to South Shields on Wednesday 24th July.

Open to both Solace members and non members, the programme for the day is as follow

Regional Event – Creating Purposeful Places
All Local Authorities want to make a difference to their place, to create prosperity and local pride. However, austerity and the consequent lack of resources is challenging this place leadership role. Alongside this the challenges of Brexit, the changing nature of town centres and the need to attract people and organisations to invest, live, work and play in your place has never been greater. The answer is to become an enabler and facilitator within the place, ‘to drive from the back seat’ but how do you empower, enthuse and engage stakeholders in the journey to create a ‘Purposeful Place’?
10:00 – Registration Opens (Refreshments on Arrival)
10:20 – Welcome and Introduction to the day
10:30 – Place Principles:  how you can unleash the power of place and what can be learnt from other places.
11:15 – The secret is sustainability: how to develop and maintain place leadership and activity through your stakeholders.
11:45 – Refreshments
12:00 – Case study: delivered by Redcar|Cleveland, a local authority that has gone through the purposeful place journey.
