Solace Regional workshop – Birmingham – Thur 5th March 2020

After the successful workshops already held in the South East, Yorkshire/Humber region, North East, North West and South West we are delighted to be bringing our ‘Creating Purposeful Places’ workshop to Manchester on Thursday 5th March 2020 from 1.00pm to 4.00pm hosted at the Bevan Brittan Offices, Interchange Place, Edmund Street, Birmingham, B3 2TA.

All Local Authorities want to make a difference to their place, to create prosperity and local pride. However, austerity and the consequent lack of resources is challenging this place leadership role. Alongside this the challenges of Brexit, the changing nature of town centres and the need to attract people and organisations to invest, live, work and play in your place has never been greater. The answer is to become an enabler and facilitator within the place, ‘to drive from the back seat’ but how do you empower, enthuse and engage stakeholders in the journey to create a ‘Purposeful Place’?

A free event open to both Solace members and non members, details of the session are as follows (after Solace Regional Conference in the morning)

13.15 – Welcome and Introduction to the day

13.20 – Place Principles:  how you can unleash the power of place and what can be learnt from other places.

13:50 – Case study: Coventry

Hear from Martin Reeves, Chief Executive of Coventry City Council as he explains their process of creating a place story relating to a changing and growing place and creating sustainable mechanisms for place promotion through connecting business with the place and widening place leadership.
