MIPIM Cannes – 12th – 15th March 2019

At thinkingplace we’re getting ready for MIPIM as I’m sure you are, and planning who we’d like to meet with while we’re there.

We are the leading ‘place specialist’ in the UK and use our experience, skills and insight with places to:

*  bring businesses, HE/FE, community and public sector together to create and implement a shared ‘narrative’ that differentiates their place to grow and develop their economy.

*  create a new model of place leadership (at a time of austerity) where the private sector and HE/FE have a prominent role in place marketing and becoming place ambassadors.

*  define the role and complementarity of places within emerging macro-economic areas such as the Northern Powerhouse, Midlands Engine, Combined Authorities and Local Enterprise Partnerships.

*  unlock the economic potential of a place by highlighting and focussing on its assets, economic geography and wider spatial relationships.

*  develop a sustainable approach to place marketing that isn’t predicated on continued public sector resource, either financial or manpower.

We have successfully implemented this different way of working with all three UK Cities of Culture.

We’ve also worked with many LEPs, Local Authorities and Investment Agencies for cities, towns and regions across the UK, helping them create economic stand out and mobilise stakeholders to ‘tell and sell’ their story . We’d like to share our approach with you and the results from which places like Cornwall, Lancashire, Coventry and Warwickshire, Hull, Carlisle, Doncaster, Nottingham, Knowsley, Medway, Perth, Lancaster, St Helens, Great Place Wentworth & Elsecar, Redcar|Cleveland, Harlow & Gilston Garden Town and the University of Central Lancashire are benefitting.

From a private sector and developer perspective we provide a unique ‘place making, marketing & branding’ service within the property sector.

Working with major players such as Muse, Grainger, Skanska, Land Securities, Midtown Capital and Compendium Living and with intermediaries including CBRE, GVA and DTZ  we offer a unique set of skills that will add value to your activity:

*  contextualising development in the wider place demonstrating its contribution to the local economy

*  engaging local stakeholders to ease the planning process

*  helping to provide the right climate to raise values and create a market

*  developing a ‘narrative’ for the development to ensure synergy between it and the place

*  helping the development team think about and use place influences beyond the ‘red line’

*  adding a distinct and valued place orientated ‘win’ theme to your bid

If you’d like to learn more about our approach, or the places we’ve worked with in the last 12 years, and how we might be able to help you promote and develop your place then we’d be delighted to meet up at MIPIM.

To request a meeting with one of the team then please email Rose Dinsdale here

Hope to see you there!
