The growth conundrum: the future role of urban centres?

• Do we have a growth agenda and coherent policy framework that leverages and supports our urban centres?
• The increased role of the internet and recessionary pressures is changing the face of retailing and requires a rethinking of the functionality of city and town centres. Mary Portas has shown one way forward but are her ideas deliverable and if so how? What will we all be doing in our urban centres in 10 years time?
• If the requirement for shopping centres is going to diminish what do developers see as future growth sectors in our cities and towns?
